Description
betaDixons Croxteth Academy, located at L11 4SG in the Croxteth area of Liverpool, is a co-educational secondary school that caters to students aged 11–18. This academic institution, managed by Dixons Academy Trust since November 2022, was originally established in 1953 as a Catholic school for boys. In 2021, the school received a warning notice after two inadequate Ofsted reports, yet it sustained continued operation following a local campaign supported by students, teachers, governors, and the local Member of Parliament.
The academy's educational philosophy, led by Principal Iain Duggan, aims to ensure that all students have the opportunity to attend university or a realistic alternative, thrive in a fulfilling career, and enjoy a meaningful and purposeful life. Dixons Croxteth Academy is committed to three core values: hard work, integrity, and fairness.
Notable alumni from the school include well-known figures across entertainment, sports, and public service such as Anthony Dunne, Adam Farley, Francis Jeffers, Steve Smith, Wayne Rooney, and David Morrissey. The school site was originally the former De La Salle Grammar School, and it was known as the De La Salle Grammar School until 1983. By 2004, the institution achieved specialist status in English, Geography, and History, moving forward as the De La Salle Humanities College. In 2022, the name transitioned to Dixons Croxteth Academy.
