The school is an academy, partnered with the Altus Education Partnership, and was formerly managed by the local authority of Rochdale.
The school's campus occupies a site on Turf Hill Road that includes a £13 million state-of-the-art building constructed in 2013, replacing an earlier incarnation established through the amalgamation of Balderstone Technology College and Springhill High School as part of the Building Schools for the Future program. According to the most recent Ofsted report from September 2013, Kingsway Park High School has been judged as "good" in all categories, showcasing continued improvements in exam results, attendance, and other performance criteria.
