betaNorthfield School & Sports College is a comprehensive secondary institution located in Billingham, north-east England. Fostering a strong sense of community through its motto, "Many minds, one heart," the school serves students from ages 11 to 16.
Established in 1972, Northfield holds specialist Sports College status since 1999 and has received Training School designation as well. It maintains respect, honesty, and resilience as core values, encouraging its students to become inspired and confident learners capable of thriving in an ever-changing world. Under the leadership of Head Teacher Richard Henderson, the school merges tradition with modern education, offering a wide range of activities and extracurricular programs to nurture student achievements in sports such as ice hockey, Taekwondo, Jiu-Jitsu, and cricket.
Notable former students include Jamie Bell, the actor famous for his role in "Billy Elliot" and Griffin in "Jumper"; Andrew Davies, a footballer for Middlesbrough F.C., Southampton F.C., and Bradford City F.C.; Tommy Mooney, a former footballer; Paul Smith, the frontman of Maxïmo Park; Mark Davies, a Durham County and England Lions cricketer; Brad Walker, a professional footballer; and Richard Kilty, world indoor 60m champion and European indoor champion sprinter.
