St John's Chapel Primary School

St John's Chapel Primary School is performing well as a good school, continuing to create a nurturing and supportive environment for its pupils. The school is recognized for its warm relationships between staff and students, fostering individual talents and capabilities. The ambitious curriculum is well-supported by shared resources across a federation of local schools, enhancing the learning experience by enabling mixed-age classes and collaborative activities. Students are generally well-prepared for further education, benefitting from diverse extracurricular options and consistent behavioral expectations that promote a positive school climate. However, there are concerns regarding curriculum coverage in some subjects, particularly mathematics and for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). While provisions exist for these pupils, there are instances where they do not keep pace with their peers. The school is aware of these areas and is actively working to ensure all students achieve their age-related expectations, particularly for disadvantaged and struggling pupils. This inspection marks the first ungraded evaluation since the school was last rated good in 2019, following a significant period of adjustment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
