Dowson Primary Academy is performing well overall, with an overall effectiveness rating of good. The school has notable strengths in its outstanding behaviour and attitudes, along with strong personal development programs that foster respect, care, and community engagement among pupils. Although the school has implemented an ambitious curriculum with high expectations mainly for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), the leadership team is relatively new in some subjects, which is affecting the consistency of curriculum delivery in those areas. This is an important context as it is the school's first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been taken into account during the evaluation.
