The Market Weighton School is a fully inclusive school where leaders and staff know pupils well and act quickly on barriers to learning. Inclusion and personal development are particular strengths: pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and vulnerable pupils receive well-targeted support, the autism resourced provision is carefully integrated, and careers education and pastoral care are strong. Pupils generally feel safe, attend well and benefit from a broad curriculum and wide enrichment offer. Outcomes are now broadly in line with national averages and attendance has improved to slightly above average, including for pupils with SEND. Leadership and governance are effective, staff feel well supported, and safeguarding standards are met. The school is calm and relationships are respectful, though some pupils say corridors can be busy and less orderly. There is still work to do. Teaching quality is generally good but not consistently highly effective across all subjects, and disadvantaged pupils do not yet achieve in line with their peers. Some pupils have gaps in their learning and do not consistently show the self-discipline and commitment needed to achieve as well as they could; knowledge of protected characteristics and some British values is also less secure. The school has a resourced provision for 41 pupils with autism and a high proportion of pupils with EHC plans, which is important context for its inclusive work.
