Magna Academy, located at Ashdown Close in Canford Heath, Poole (BH17 8RE), is a vibrant co-educational secondary school and sixth form that delivers all-around education for students aged 11 to 18. The school first opened its doors in 1989 as Ashdown School, a merger of Ashley Cross Girls School and Seldown. In 2013, it converted to academy status under Aspirations Trust sponsorship, changing its name to Magna Academy.

Magna Academy has a history of academic achievement, having received an Outstanding rating from Ofsted in 2015 and 2018. The school's distinctive feature is its "silent corridors" policy, where students are expected to transition between lessons in silence, emphasizing a calm learning environment. Magna Academy is encompassed by an engaging community spirit, attractive blue, grey, and cyan color scheme, and is situated in a large field where ash trees were planted to symbolize the school's name.

Principal Natasha Ullah took over the position in 2020, becoming the first Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) headteacher on England's South Coast. The Magna Academy website, https://www.magna-aspirations.org/, serves as a platform for current information and has been instrumental in keeping the school connected to students and families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
