Brook Green Centre for Learning is a special school for pupils with cognition and learning needs and social, emotional and mental health needs; all pupils have an education, health and care plan. Inspectors found strong provision across the school: the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, and leadership and management are good, while personal development is a standout strength. Safeguarding arrangements are effective, governance is strong, staff are proud to work at the school, and parents are highly positive. Pupils are well mannered, respectful and kind, and they build very strong, trusting relationships with staff and each other. The school has high expectations and pupils are successful learners who are well prepared for life beyond school. The personal development curriculum is exceptionally well designed, including careers, enrichment, outdoor learning and Duke of Edinburgh participation. Pupils benefit from a calm, orderly environment and bespoke behaviour support, and attendance has improved through strong pastoral work. The main areas for improvement are precise use of reading and writing assessment in some subjects, where teaching is not yet consistently adapted to pupils’ needs, and the regular attendance of pupils in receipt of pupil premium funding. Overall, the school is performing well and provides a well-rounded, supportive education for its pupils.

Source: Department for Education, School workforce in England. Each year is the one the school year ends in (2025 is 2024/25). Pupils per teacher counts full-time-equivalent pupils and teachers. Turnover is the share of a year's teachers (full-time equivalent) who were not at the school the following year, whether they moved to another school or left state-funded teaching. Turnover and sickness figures run one year behind the ratios. Sick leave is the share of teachers who took at least one day in the year, so it swings widely at small schools, where a few teachers can make it 0% or 100%. The national figures are for all state schools of the same type.
