St Boniface's RC College is a smaller boys' secondary school in Plymouth, part of the Plymouth Cast trust, inspected in April 2025 after leadership changes in autumn 2023. Pupils and parents describe a warm, family-like community where pupils feel safe and cared for, relationships are respectful, and behaviour is calm and orderly. Personal development is a notable strength, with pupils benefiting from trips, sports, positions of responsibility, charity work and learning about diversity, and careers education now starts in Year 7. Safeguarding is effective, and leaders are seen as reflective and committed to improvement. The curriculum has become more ambitious and pupils are achieving more highly at the end of key stage 4. Reading is promoted well, with strong support for pupils who have fallen behind, and pupils with SEND are identified accurately, with care described as a strength. However, the quality of education is not yet consistently good. Curriculum delivery varies across the school; some work lacks purpose and ambition, checks on pupils' understanding are inconsistent, misconceptions can persist, and expectations of some pupils' written work are not high enough. The school knows what needs to improve: staff need to use the most effective teaching approaches, check understanding before moving on, and hold consistently high expectations of pupils' work. Overall, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management are strengths, while curriculum delivery remains the main area for further development.

- English
- Maths
- 3 subjects from qualifications that count towards the English Baccalaureate (EBacc), like sciences, language and history

Admissions: local authority offers data from the Department for Education. A school is oversubscribed when at least 5% of the families who put it first were not offered a place, and undersubscribed when everyone who put it first got in but 10% or more of its places were unfilled in the Department's school capacity survey (the latest survey is used for entry years it does not cover). Places: Department for Education, School capacity, from local authorities' annual survey as at 1 May. Each year is the one the school year ends in (2025 is 2024–25); the survey was not run in 2020. Places include sixth form places. Forecasts are the local authority's own for the school's planning area, an area it uses to plan places that is not the school's catchment area. The forecast starts from a head count in 2025; the dashed line is the Department's estimate of places in that area, including those the authority has firm plans for. Planned places are cumulative, and only those with firm plans are counted.

Turnover is the share of a year's teachers (full-time equivalent) who were not at the school the following year, whether they moved to another school or left state-funded teaching. Turnover and sickness figures run one year behind the ratios. Sick leave is the share of teachers who took at least one day in the year, so it swings widely at small schools, where a few teachers can make it 0% or 100%. The national figures are for all state schools of the same type.
