Al Jamiah Al Islamiyyah, an independent boys' school in Bolton for pupils aged 11 to 25, was subject to an unannounced emergency inspection in April 2026 commissioned by the DfE following concerns raised about safeguarding. The inspection found that the school meets all of the independent school standards checked, with leadership and management, quality of education, welfare health and safety, staff suitability, premises, and provision of information all continuing to be met. The report highlights strong leadership and governance, with detailed oversight, routine quality assurance, and effective staff training. Safeguarding is robust: staff receive regular training, concerns are reported through clear procedures, and boarding and school staff work together to keep pupils safe. The PSHE and RSE curriculums are thoughtfully planned and age-appropriate, with thorough parental consultation. Careers provision is suitable and helps pupils make informed choices. Other strengths include effective behaviour and anti-bullying practices, sound health and safety, fire safety, first aid and risk assessment arrangements, appropriate admissions and attendance policies, and suitable recruitment checks. Premises are well maintained and clean, and pupils' wellbeing is actively promoted. No areas of weakness or non-compliance were identified in this inspection.
