Skegness Grammar School is a 634-pupil secondary school with a sixth form, part of The David Ross Education Trust, and has had a new headteacher since July 2025. Inspectors found safeguarding standards met and a strong culture of safeguarding. The school's personal development and wellbeing provision is a standout strength: leaders have invested heavily in PSHE, pastoral care, enrichment and community service, and pupils discuss sensitive issues maturely and demonstrate fundamental British values. Most other areas—achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and post-16 provision—are at expected standard. Pupils typically achieve well, with results in line with or above national averages; disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND generally achieve at least as well as their peers. Attendance is broadly in line with national averages, behaviour is typically mature, and suspensions are falling though still above national averages. The main development point is consistency in teaching: in some subjects approaches are less well developed, and teachers occasionally choose activities or resources that do not precisely match pupils' needs, including those with SEND. Leaders are refining SEND support and evaluation, but some parents remain uncertain about SEND provision and the revised behaviour approach. The sixth form is steadily improving; students achieve similarly to national peers and are well prepared for their next steps. Overall, this is a school with strong personal development and pastoral care, effective leadership and a clear capacity to address the remaining inconsistencies.
