Kingsleigh Primary School is a much larger-than-average primary school within a single-academy trust, with above-average proportions of disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND. After a period of instability, new leadership—including a headteacher appointed in September 2024—has helped stabilise the school. Inspectors judged the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision all to be good; under current arrangements, no overall effectiveness grade is awarded. The school’s values of respect, belonging and aspiration are embedded in daily life, pupils generally behave well, and an ambitious, coherent curriculum has improved learning significantly. Reading and phonics are strong, pupils with SEND are well supported, and pastoral care and safeguarding are effective. However, teaching strategies in the wider curriculum are not as well developed as in core subjects, leading to variable quality and pupils not learning as well as they could in some subjects. Strategic oversight has not been consistently strong, although governor training and improved monitoring are underway. National test outcomes do not yet reflect the improvements seen in the current quality of education.
