Bredon Hill Academy

Bredon Hill Academy is a nurturing school with high expectations that has recently joined Worcestershire Hills Trust. This was its first section 5 inspection; its predecessor middle school had previously been judged outstanding. Inspectors found behaviour and personal development outstanding, with leadership and management and quality of education good. Pupils are happy, behave impeccably, attend regularly and benefit from a calm and purposeful environment, strong relationships, a broad curriculum, prioritised reading and well-developed personal, social and careers education.

Areas for Improvement

• Some pupils, particularly those with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, do not attain as well as they could in Key Stage 2 external assessments.
• Teaching approaches are not used consistently well, so some activities do not build precisely on pupils' prior knowledge.
• Some pupils take longer to learn new concepts and do not retain new knowledge well enough over time, particularly in mathematics.
