Bredon Hancock’s Endowed C of E First School is a welcoming, inclusive Church of England first school where pupils attend well, behave positively and achieve well. Inspectors found that personal development and early years provision are exceptionally strong, with children getting an excellent start to their education and pupils being very well prepared for life in modern Britain. The curriculum is ambitious and coherent, reading is at the heart of the school’s work, and pupils with SEND learn alongside their peers. The quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, and leadership and management are secure. Staff feel well supported, governors know the school well, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. The main area for improvement is that some aspects of the wider curriculum are not yet well established, so pupils do not always make connections between current and previous learning across subjects. This was the school’s first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic and its first section 5 inspection since 2014, when it was exempt because of its previous outstanding judgement. Under the arrangements from September 2024, the school has not been given an overall effectiveness grade.
