Berrow Primary Church Academy is a small, inclusive Church of England primary school that joined The Priory Learning Trust in August 2023 and has had its current headteacher since September 2023. This full inspection found safeguarding standards met, attendance and behaviour at strong standard, and all other inspected areas at expected standard. Pupils are happy, attend well and behave impeccably, and leaders have created a warm, ambitious ethos while addressing historic weaknesses in the curriculum and outcomes. The school's main strengths are its early years provision, phonics and reading, inclusion, and personal development. Children get off to a successful start, pupils with SEND and disadvantaged pupils are supported appropriately, and the curriculum is coherently sequenced. Published outcomes at the expected standard have improved, and attendance is high. However, some pupils capable of working at the higher standard are not challenged well enough; assessment does not consistently identify when pupils are ready to move on, and tasks sometimes fail to build on prior knowledge. A few pupils also lack the intended depth of knowledge about different beliefs, faiths and cultures. Leaders' next steps rightly focus on deepening learning for higher standards and making assessment drive consistently appropriate challenge.
