Bankfoot Primary School is a community primary in Bradford for pupils aged 3 to 11. Following this inspection, the school was judged good in all key areas: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. This is a notable improvement from its previous inspection, when it required improvement. The headteacher joined in September 2024, and the school serves 246 pupils. Under the current inspection framework, no overall effectiveness grade is given. Pupils are proud of their school and have very positive attitudes to learning. They respond well to high expectations for behaviour and show the school’s community values in practice. The curriculum is well sequenced and helps pupils build knowledge over time, and reading is a particular strength, with well-trained staff and effective support for pupils who need extra help. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities are identified accurately and supported to access the ambitious curriculum. Personal development is strong, with trips, visitors and visits to places of worship helping pupils learn about safety, different faiths and cultures. Leadership is effective, governance provides suitable challenge and support, staff feel valued, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. The main areas for improvement are assessment and writing. In some subjects, the school does not check what pupils have remembered over time, so gaps in knowledge are not always identified and addressed. Too few pupils have excelled in writing by the end of key stage 2, and although the school has introduced a new approach to writing, it is at an early stage and its impact has not yet been fully evaluated.

Admissions: local authority offers data from the Department for Education. A school is oversubscribed when at least 5% of the families who put it first were not offered a place, and undersubscribed when everyone who put it first got in but 10% or more of its places were unfilled in the Department's school capacity survey (the latest survey is used for entry years it does not cover). Places: Department for Education, School capacity, from local authorities' annual survey as at 1 May. Each year is the one the school year ends in (2025 is 2024–25); the survey was not run in 2020. Places include sixth form places. Forecasts are the local authority's own for the school's planning area, an area it uses to plan places that is not the school's catchment area. The forecast starts from a head count in 2025; the dashed line is the Department's estimate of places in that area, including those the authority has firm plans for. Planned places are cumulative, and only those with firm plans are counted.

Turnover and sickness figures run one year behind the ratios. Sick leave is the share of teachers who took at least one day in the year, so it swings widely at small schools, where a few teachers can make it 0% or 100%. The national figures are for all state schools of the same type.
