Otley The Whartons Primary School is performing well and continues to be regarded as a good school by the community it serves. The positive atmosphere at the school is complemented by high expectations and a strong focus on personal development, with pupils actively engaging in a variety of enrichment activities. The leadership team has successfully prioritized reading and implemented effective teaching strategies, which have resulted in most pupils achieving well in their studies. However, the school acknowledges the need to improve its support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) by clearly defining the essential knowledge they should acquire throughout the curriculum. Although the school displays many strengths in its academic and personal development offerings, there are concerns about communication with parents and some inconsistencies in implementing changes within the school. The dedication of staff and the support available for both staff and students contribute significantly to the school's overall atmosphere, but further work is necessary to ensure all families feel adequately informed and engaged.
