Thelwall Community Junior School has effectively maintained the standards of education established during its previous inspection. The school provides a supportive and welcoming environment where pupils are happy, engaged, and eager to learn. The curriculum has been thoughtfully refined to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), ensuring that high aspirations for achievement are consistently upheld. With a strong emphasis on personal development and character formation, pupils are prepared for the next stages of their education and life beyond school. However, while many aspects of teaching and curriculum delivery are commendable, there are some areas that require improvement. In particular, certain foundation subjects do not allow pupils to reliably build on prior learning, leading to gaps in knowledge. Furthermore, checks on pupils' understanding in these subjects are not consistently effective, potentially hindering their overall learning experience. Despite these challenges, the school continues to show a commitment to improvement and positive relationships with the local community support the transition for pupils from feeder schools.
