Strengths

• Attendance is above national averages, with rapid improvement for lower-attending and vulnerable pupils.
• Pupils with SEND attend more regularly than peers nationally and very few are persistently absent.
• Behaviour is calm, orderly and respectful, with pupils helping to design and follow routines.
• By the end of Year 6, pupils achieve above typical national levels in reading, writing and mathematics, including disadvantaged pupils.
• The curriculum is ambitious, broad and balanced, and carefully designed for mixed-age classes.
• Reading is a clear priority and taught well, with strong phonics and early writing and mathematics foundations.
• Children in the early years make a positive start through warm relationships and effective language development.
• Inclusion is effective, with early identification of needs and adapted support that helps pupils participate fully.
• Personal development is broad and purposeful, developing respect, British values and civic responsibility.
• Leaders are accurate about the school's strengths and areas for development, and parents have high confidence in the school.
• Staff benefit from professional learning and collaborative working that keeps workload manageable.

Areas for Improvement

• Staff do not consistently use information from checks on pupils' understanding to inform their teaching, so future learning does not always build securely on what pupils already know.
• Governors do not have sufficient oversight of the impact of leaders' actions in some areas, which can limit how effectively they hold leaders to account.
• Recent work to improve outcomes in the Year 4 multiplication check has not yet had time to show impact.
