Green Haworth Church of England Primary School has been judged to require special measures following its May 2026 inspection. Inspectors found that the school is not providing an acceptable standard of education and that leaders and governors do not have the capacity to secure the necessary improvement. Achievement, curriculum and teaching, and leadership and governance are all graded urgent improvement, while attendance and behaviour, early years, inclusion, and personal development and wellbeing need attention. Safeguarding standards are met. Weaknesses are severe and long-standing. Published outcomes in reading, writing and mathematics by the end of Year 6 remain well below national averages, and many pupils, including those with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, leave ill-equipped for their next stage. The curriculum takes too little account of mixed-age classes, teaching expectations are too low, gaps in basic skills are not addressed, and pupils with SEND do not receive sufficient support. Leadership has an overly optimistic view of the school, previous improvement areas remain unresolved, and governance oversight is limited. Behaviour is inconsistent, and some pupils lose focus or give up. There are some positives. Attendance has improved and is close to the national average, with disadvantaged pupils attending above national figures; bullying is rare and handled well, and pupils generally behave well socially. Early years has warm relationships and a strengthened curriculum focus, though phonics and fine motor provision are inconsistent. The personal development offer is broad, and pupils benefit from positive relationships, community involvement and wider opportunities, but its impact is limited, including pupils' understanding of British values and diversity. The school is small, with 63 pupils on roll at inspection, a high proportion of pupils with SEN support, and mixed-age classes. It may not appoint early career teachers before the next monitoring inspection.

Admissions: local authority offers data from the Department for Education. A school is oversubscribed when at least 5% of the families who put it first were not offered a place, and undersubscribed when everyone who put it first got in but 10% or more of its places were unfilled in the Department's school capacity survey (the latest survey is used for entry years it does not cover). Places: Department for Education, School capacity, from local authorities' annual survey as at 1 May. Each year is the one the school year ends in (2025 is 2024–25); the survey was not run in 2020. Places include sixth form places. Forecasts are the local authority's own for the school's planning area, an area it uses to plan places that is not the school's catchment area. The forecast starts from a head count in 2025; the dashed line is the Department's estimate of places in that area, including those the authority has firm plans for. Planned places are cumulative, and only those with firm plans are counted.

Turnover is the share of a year's teachers (full-time equivalent) who were not at the school the following year, whether they moved to another school or left state-funded teaching. Turnover and sickness figures run one year behind the ratios. Sick leave is the share of teachers who took at least one day in the year, so it swings widely at small schools, where a few teachers can make it 0% or 100%.
