Castleview School

Castleview School continues to struggle with significant challenges in its educational provision, as reflected in its overall inadequate performance. The school has undergone a recent rebranding and change in leadership but still has not made sufficient progress since its last inspection. While some pupils are beginning to benefit from improvements, especially younger ones, overall expectations remain low, particularly in the sixth form where students have limited access to advanced qualifications and vocational opportunities. The lack of a clearly defined curriculum hinders pupils' learning and progress, leaving them unprepared for their future transitions.

Strengths

• Pupils from Year 3 to Year 11 are in lessons and completing work set.
• Staff support pupils’ well-being with a range of therapeutic approaches.
• Positive relationships exist between staff and pupils.
• Pupils are generally safe and engage more in learning than before.

Areas for Improvement

• The quality of education is inadequate, particularly in the sixth form.
• Curriculum clarity is lacking, affecting pupils' progress.
• Expectations of what pupils can achieve are not high enough.
• Attendance, especially in the sixth form, is consistently too low.
• Some pupils spend too long on work they are already capable of completing.
• Insufficient teaching of British values impacts pupils' preparation for life in modern Britain.
