This was a material change inspection, not a standard graded inspection. On Track Education Northampton is an independent special school for pupils aged 11 to 19 with social, emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties; all pupils have an EHC plan and many have not succeeded in previous settings. The school applied to add additional premises and increase the maximum number of pupils, and inspectors assessed its likely compliance with the independent school standards. The overall outcome is that the school is likely to meet the relevant standards if the material changes are implemented. The report found strong leadership and management for the proposed expansion. The proprietor has a positive record of running and expanding schools, has secured occupancy of the new site, and has credible plans, structures and training to replicate the main site's quality at the new site. Safeguarding is central to the school's ethos; staff are vigilant, act appropriately on concerns, work well with external agencies, and pupils say they feel safe and supported. Health and safety, fire safety, risk assessment, safer recruitment, premises, accessibility, and staffing arrangements were all found likely to meet the relevant standards for both sites. No concerns or weaknesses were identified in this inspection. The report notes that this is the second material change inspection, following one in January 2026, and that the school has undergone significant change since then by gaining access to and preparing the new site.
