Hungerhill School is a secondary comprehensive academy in the Brighter Futures Learning Partnership. This was its first section 5 inspection since 2012, when it was judged outstanding and subsequently exempt from routine inspection, and it took place after a new headteacher was appointed in September 2024. Under the current framework the school is not given an overall effectiveness grade, but it was judged outstanding in all four key areas. Pupils are happy, feel safe and behave exceptionally well. The school sets very high expectations and pupils, including disadvantaged pupils, achieve significantly above national averages in many subjects. The curriculum is highly ambitious and well sequenced, reading is a high priority, support for pupils with SEND is excellent, and attendance is high. Personal development is strong, with a wide careers programme, clubs, trips and leadership opportunities, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. Leadership is highly effective. Governors and trustees understand their roles, staff receive strong professional development, and leaders are mindful of workload. Inspectors identified no areas of concern in the report.
