Holy Trinity CofE Infant School is a joyful, nurturing school where pupils feel safe, happy and a strong sense of belonging. The school has high expectations and pupils achieve well, with particularly exceptional provision in the early years. Children get off to an excellent start, reading is strong, behaviour is exemplary, and the personal development offer is exceptional, including rich wider opportunities and a strong focus on character development. Governance and trust support are effective, staff feel valued, and parents are highly positive. The main area for improvement is the curriculum in a small number of subjects. The important knowledge pupils should learn and remember has not been identified clearly enough, which means teachers are not always sure what essential knowledge to check when assessing pupils' progress. The school should make the key knowledge explicit and ensure teachers accurately check that pupils have acquired it. This was the school's first routine inspection under section 5 of the Education Act 2005. It is a small infant academy converter within the Minster Trust for Education, and it had previously been judged outstanding before converting to academy status.
