The Outdoors School

The Outdoors School is performing well overall, rated as good in all assessed areas including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. The school successfully creates a sense of belonging for pupils, which is particularly important as all students have special educational needs and/or disabilities. They are well prepared for their next stages in education and feel safe and happy in their environment. Opportunities for personal development are numerous, with students actively participating in community events and taking responsibility for their school environment. However, there are notable areas for improvement. While the curriculum is tailored to meet individual pupil needs, some staff demonstrate a lack of subject knowledge and confidence in delivering certain subjects, particularly in personal, social, and health education. This gap can hinder pupils' progress in acquiring essential knowledge promptly. The school has received consistent evaluations of good in previous inspections, indicating a stable and effective educational context. Overall, the commitment from staff and proprietors is evident, but addressing the current weaknesses will further enhance the learning experience for all students.
