Norton Junior School is performing well overall, achieving a 'Good' rating in overall effectiveness. The school showcases notable strengths in behaviour and attitudes as well as personal development, both rated 'Outstanding'. The commitment of the headteacher and staff fosters a positive and nurturing environment where pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), are well-supported to thrive academically and socially. This is the school's first inspection since becoming an academy, and it reflects a strong foundation for future growth. However, while the school demonstrates high engagement and effective teaching, there are areas for improvement, particularly in the sequencing of key knowledge within certain subjects. This could hinder some pupils from building on their existing knowledge and achieving a deeper understanding of specific concepts. Additionally, there is an ongoing need to foster a greater love of reading among pupils who are currently struggling with their reading development.
