JP Alternative Education has shown significant improvement since its last inspection, moving from a status of Requires Improvement to Good overall. The school effectively supports pupils who have previously struggled in mainstream education, fostering a positive environment where they feel safe and valued. With a broad, well-planned curriculum that prioritizes English and mathematics alongside vocational opportunities, the school successfully re-engages pupils in learning. Relationships among pupils, families, and staff are strong, contributing to a calm and attentive atmosphere in lessons. Despite these strengths, the school faces challenges in certain subjects where planning and sequencing are not yet coherent, which can hinder some pupils' learning progression. In addition, while early reading skills are well supported, there is a need for further development of reading fluency for those who advance beyond phonics. The leadership is aware of these areas for improvement and is taking steps to address them, reflecting a commitment to continuous development and effective management of the school.
