St Anne Line Catholic Junior School is a highly effective and welcoming school where pupils love attending and are exceptionally well supported. Pupils behave exceptionally well, show respect and kindness, and achieve well across a broad, ambitious curriculum. The school’s Catholic values are woven through daily life, and pupils benefit from strong pastoral care, high attendance and a wide range of clubs and experiences. The curriculum is rich, well sequenced and taught by highly trained staff who check understanding and adapt support effectively, including for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Reading is a strength, with a diverse range of texts and a structured phonics scheme helping weaker readers catch up. Personal development is also strong: pupils learn to discuss different perspectives, take on leadership roles and become responsible citizens. Leadership is passionate and determined, with appropriate challenge and support from governors and the diocese. Safeguarding arrangements are effective. This was a graded inspection in September 2024, and, as with other schools inspected from that point, no overall effectiveness grade was given. The school is a voluntary aided Catholic junior school in the Diocese of Brentwood.
