Charlton School has demonstrated a good overall effectiveness in its first inspection under section 5 of the Education Act 2005. Leaders and staff share a commitment to high aspirations for students, and the school promotes a positive environment where pupils feel safe and valued. The curriculum is ambitious, and there are numerous extracurricular activities that enrich the students' experience, contributing to their personal development. Although teachers have generally adapted well to the needs of students, particularly those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, there are areas where consistency in assessment and challenge could be improved.
