Wallington Primary Academy is fulfilling the expected standard overall, with safeguarding met and most areas of provision judged secure. Leaders have a clear understanding of the school's strengths and have taken swift, appropriate action to improve curriculum and teaching, early years, inclusion, personal development, and leadership and governance. Pupils benefit from a coherent curriculum with a strong emphasis on oracy and vocabulary, effective phonics teaching, and targeted support for disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND. The school has a caring, inclusive culture where pupils feel safe and are well supported in their personal development. However, two areas need attention. Pupils' achievement at the end of key stage 2 has been below national averages for three years, including for disadvantaged pupils, and progress across the wider curriculum is inconsistent, leaving pupils insufficiently prepared for the next stage of learning, particularly in writing. Attendance remains low, and persistent absence for some groups is high despite early signs of improvement. Behaviour in lessons is generally calm and purposeful, but social times are less consistent, with some low-level disruption and loss of learning time.
