Osbaldwick Primary Academy is a nurturing, inclusive primary school across two sites and part of Ebor Academy Trust. Following a previous inspection that judged it as requiring improvement, leaders have made considered changes to curriculum ambition and clarity. Pupils are friendly, polite, attend and behave well, and benefit from strong phonics and reading provision from Reception, with secure writing and mathematics also developing. Personal development is a standout strength, with extensive community, enterprise, music, leadership and careers-related opportunities, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. The school's curriculum identifies important knowledge and is sequenced logically, including for mixed-age classes, and regular retrieval helps pupils remember key facts. Early years provision is strong, with skilled staff interactions and rich indoor and outdoor learning. Governance and trust support are clear, staff value professional development and well-being, and pupils with SEND benefit from a strong pastoral and nurture offer. However, support for some pupils with SEND is not consistently clear, timely or precisely matched to individual targets because staff guidance is not sufficiently clear. In some subjects and lessons, tasks do not consistently build on prior learning or link closely enough to intended learning, limiting how well pupils deepen knowledge and make connections.
