Welland Primary School has demonstrated good overall effectiveness in its first inspection. The school presents a calm and orderly environment where pupils exhibit positive behaviors, respect, and a joy for learning. Leaders set high expectations for behavior and promote a range of extracurricular opportunities, enhancing pupils' personal development and fostering strong community ties. The school prioritizes reading and has implemented effective support measures for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to thrive academically. Although the quality of education is strong overall, there are areas for improvement in the sequencing of the curriculum in a few subjects, specifically geography and art and design. Additionally, some recently appointed staff have not yet received adequate training in phonics, which may hinder their effectiveness in teaching early reading. Leaders are committed to addressing these issues to optimize the educational experience for all pupils.
