Avanti Brook Primary School is a new, growing school that opened in September 2023 and sits at the heart of a new housing community. It is part of Avanti Schools Trust and includes The Spring, a specially resourced provision for pupils with speech, language and communication needs and/or autism. Safeguarding standards are met. The inspection found particular strengths in the early years and in personal development and wellbeing: children get off to a flying start, transition from pre-school is very well managed, and pupils benefit from a rich programme of wider opportunities and a strong community focus.

  • Attendance is carefully monitored and leaders act quickly to support pupils and families.
  • Inclusion is a well-established feature of the school, with needs identified and addressed quickly.
  • The Spring specialist provision supports pupils with speech, language and communication needs and/or autism very well.

Areas for Improvement

  • Teaching quality is inconsistent across some subjects and year groups.
  • Activities are not always adapted precisely enough to meet individual pupils' needs.
  • Some pupils receive work that is too easy or too hard.
  • A small number of pupils with SEND do not benefit as fully as they could from provision.
  • Leaders need to fully embed highly effective teaching across all subjects and year groups.
