Ightham Primary School is performing very well overall. Inspectors found high achievement across the curriculum, with pupils producing consistently strong work, retaining knowledge and using subject-specific vocabulary confidently. Disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND achieve particularly well, and the school’s work on reading, handwriting, spelling and mathematics gives pupils secure foundations. Attendance is extremely high and behaviour is highly positive; pupils are polite, engaged and trust staff to deal with any worries. The school’s curriculum and teaching are well designed and consistently delivered, with staff checking understanding and adapting work effectively. Early years provision gives children an excellent start, and inclusion is central to the school’s work, with pupils’ needs identified early and supported precisely. Leadership and governance are strong: leaders have a clear vision, staff morale is high, and trustees provide effective challenge and support. Personal development and wellbeing are also a major strength, supported by visits, clubs and leadership roles. Safeguarding arrangements meet requirements. This was a full section 5 inspection of a school within The Pioneer Academy trust. The headteacher took up post in September 2025. Inspectors identified no areas of concern or underperformance; the next step is for leaders and governors to continue developing provision towards exceptional teaching and achievement for all pupils, particularly those facing barriers to learning.
