Inspectors found strong practice in achievement, attendance and behaviour, early years, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing. Pupils leave well prepared for the next stage, with outcomes above national averages in reading, writing and mathematics, disadvantaged pupils doing at least as well as non-disadvantaged pupils nationally, and pupils with SEND well supported. Attendance is high, persistent absence is low, behaviour is calm and respectful, and pupils benefit from a wide range of enriching experiences. The main area for development is curriculum and teaching. The curriculum is broad and ambitious, and reading is taught well, but teachers' checks on understanding sometimes do not identify gaps in pupils' knowledge. When this happens, teaching can move on before pupils are secure and misconceptions have been addressed. Leaders should ensure these checks are sharper and that gaps are addressed quickly. The school is a Church of England primary in the Diocese of Southwark, with a close-to-average number of pupils and below-average proportions of pupils eligible for free school meals and with SEND. Safeguarding standards are met, governance is effective, and staff feel well supported. Overall, this is a strong school with one clear priority for further improvement in assessment and responsive teaching.
