Robin Hood Infants' School is performing at the expected standard overall, with every inspected area—achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, early years, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing—meeting expected standards. Safeguarding standards are met. Pupils are happy, safe and typically behave well, and they achieve securely in reading, writing and mathematics by the end of Year 2. Reading and phonics are particular strengths, with Year 1 phonics outcomes above national averages, including for disadvantaged pupils and pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The school has clear curriculum planning, strong early years provision, effective inclusion work, and supportive relationships with families. Disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND are generally well supported to access the curriculum and wider school life, and leaders have a realistic view of what needs improving. However, the report identifies areas for development: teaching quality is not consistently strong across all year groups, some explanations and checks for understanding are imprecise, and cursive handwriting development sometimes limits extended writing. Attendance analysis lacks precision, behaviour expectations are not always applied confidently, and the enrichment offer does not always match pupils' interests. This was a full section 5 inspection. The school is in a hard federation with Thomas Wall Nursery School, shares a site, and has one registered alternative provision; the co-chairs of the governing body were appointed since the last inspection. Leaders are expected to strengthen teaching, attendance and behaviour approaches, enrichment, and evaluation of provision to secure sustained improvement.
