Broadstone Hall Primary School is a large, inclusive primary where pupils are happy, safe and attend well. Inspectors found particular strengths in attendance and behaviour, early years provision, inclusion, and leadership and governance. Safeguarding standards are met. Leaders are highly effective, staff are well supported, and parents are overwhelmingly positive about how well the school supports their children. The quality of education is secure overall. By the end of Year 6, pupils' attainment in reading, writing and mathematics is close to or above national averages, and disadvantaged pupils attain in line with other disadvantaged pupils nationally. However, some pupils do not recall previous learning securely in subjects beyond English and mathematics, and some do not gain foundational writing knowledge quickly enough to become fluent writers. Teaching is typically good, but gaps in understanding or errors in writing are not always picked up promptly. This was a full inspection of a school with 510 pupils, a higher-than-average proportion of pupils with SEN support, and a free school meal proportion close to average. The next steps focus on strengthening writing foundations and making highly effective teaching consistently available so pupils can revisit prior learning and progress more smoothly through the curriculum.
