Steeton Primary School is a highly effective, inclusive primary school where pupils thrive. Inspectors judged the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management to be outstanding, while early years provision is good. The school sets very high expectations, offers an ambitious and thoughtfully sequenced curriculum, and has strong reading and SEND provision. Pupils are proud of their welcoming school, relationships are extremely positive, and safeguarding is effective. The school is part of the Unity Federation with Sandy Lane Primary School and serves a diverse community, including many pupils who are new to the country. Under the current inspection framework, no overall effectiveness grade was given. The main area for improvement is early years practice: some learning activities do not consistently match the ambitious curriculum or give the youngest children enough opportunity to apply what they know to more complex tasks, so their learning can move on less quickly than it should. Attendance is improving but remains an ongoing priority because a small group of pupils still miss too much important learning. Leaders and governors are focused on continuous improvement, staff are well supported, and parents and pupils are rightly proud of the school.
