Keser Torah Boys’ School is an independent Jewish boys’ school for pupils aged 5 to 11. This was a progress monitoring inspection following a previous standard inspection where the school was judged not to meet several independent school standards, including quality of education, pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, and leadership and management. The Department for Education had rejected the school’s action plan after Ofsted evaluated it. At this inspection, the school meets all of the independent school standards that were checked, and it now meets the previously unmet requirements in Parts 1, 2 and 8. The report highlights that leaders acted with urgency and rigour. The PSHE curriculum has been comprehensively revised and is well sequenced and age-appropriate, with relationships education meeting statutory guidance. The school now actively promotes fundamental British values and the protected characteristics through weekly PSHE lessons and assemblies. Leadership has been strengthened through advice from a national organisation for Jewish schools, regular governor meetings with leaders, and externally led behaviour management training. Staff are dealing with low-level disruption more effectively, and a few additional opportunities, such as a choir and magazine, have been introduced. The inspection also confirmed that safeguarding arrangements, including the single central record and safeguarding policy, meet requirements. Inspectors did not visit PSHE lessons because PSHE was not timetabled on the day, but they reviewed schemes of work and training. No remaining areas of non-compliance or significant concerns were identified in this progress monitoring inspection.
