College Town Primary is a caring, inclusive school where pupils feel safe, happy and fully included in school life. Attendance is high and behaviour is excellent in lessons, around the school and at playtimes. Early years provision is a particular strength, with children settling quickly and making a strong start, and the school has strong pastoral support and community links, including for a significant number of service families. Pupils typically learn well and make secure progress, with reading and phonics standing out as clear strengths. Leadership, governance, inclusion and personal development are generally effective, and staff, parents and governors report high confidence in school leadership. However, teaching quality is not yet consistently strong across all classes, and provision for some pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities is not adapted precisely enough. Inspectors identified three main areas for improvement: embedding highly effective teaching across all subjects and classes, making adaptations for pupils with barriers to learning more precise and consistent, and deepening pupils' understanding of fundamental British values, protected characteristics and how these relate to character development and life beyond school.
