Crofton Anne Dale Infant School is performing well overall. Inspectors found a calm, respectful and inclusive school where pupils feel safe and valued. Attendance is above national averages, behaviour is strong, and children in the early years get a first-class start, especially in reading, writing and early mathematics. Personal development and pastoral support are also strengths, with a wide range of enrichment activities and strong relationships with families. Safeguarding standards are met. Other areas, including achievement, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, and leadership and governance, meet expected standards. Pupils make suitable progress and are well supported, including those with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, but leaders have identified further development work in English and mathematics. The school's curriculum is ambitious and teaching is effective, though leaders are still embedding recent changes to ensure pupils' knowledge builds even more securely over time. Two next steps were identified: governors need to develop their knowledge and skills to hold leaders to account more effectively for the quality of education, and leaders must ensure all staff embed the changes to curriculum and teaching so pupils make even more progress from their starting points. The school is part of the Crofton Anne Dale Federation and serves a relatively low-disadvantage community.
