King’s Academy Bay House has improved significantly since its previous inspection and is now judged good across all key areas, including sixth-form provision. Pupils’ behaviour is calm and purposeful, relationships between staff and pupils are positive, and the school’s ethos supports kindness, resilience and self-regulation. Safeguarding arrangements are effective. The curriculum is broad and ambitious, the sixth form is strong, and personal development is a notable strength, with a wide range of leadership, enrichment and careers opportunities. The school is a large 11–18 mixed comprehensive that joined King’s Group Academies Trust in May 2024 and has experienced significant structural and staffing changes. Leaders know there is more work to do: assessment in some subjects, particularly key stage 3, does not consistently check that pupils have secured key knowledge before moving on; support for pupils with SEND is not yet embedded consistently; and some low-level disruption in key stage 3 is not always addressed effectively. The rate of suspensions also remains too high, and staff well-being remains a priority following recent change.
