St Martin’s East Woodhay Church of England Primary School continues to perform well, maintaining its good status since its last inspection in 2014. The school creates a welcoming and inclusive environment where pupils feel a sense of belonging. High expectations for behavior and learning, coupled with a strong focus on developing pupils' leadership skills, contribute to a nurturing community atmosphere. Notably, the school has implemented effective phonics instruction, enabling pupils to develop a love for reading and achieve fluency early in their academic journey. However, there are areas that require improvement, particularly concerning the recently reorganized curriculum in foundation subjects. Some teachers have not yet received adequate training to deliver the new content effectively, leading to variability in pupil understanding across different classes. Additionally, while safeguarding measures are solid, there are gaps in the detailed documentation of actions taken in response to incidents. Leaders are aware of these issues and are taking steps to enhance training and record-keeping.
