Enderby Road Infant School is a warm and welcoming school where pupils are well cared for and generally achieve well. Inspectors found the school performing well across the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. Pupils understand the school's values, behave well, and are prepared for their next steps; parents are positive and safeguarding is effective. This was the school's first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it remains a maintained infant school for pupils aged 3 to 7. Strengths include a broad, constantly reviewed curriculum, strong early reading and mathematics provision, and effective support for pupils with SEND. Staff know pupils well, check learning and address gaps, and relationships with parents begin early in Reception. Pupils benefit from visits, responsibilities and a strong team culture among staff. However, a significant number of pupils are persistently absent, and the school's attendance procedures are not rigorous enough; this means some pupils miss vital learning. In addition, a small number of pupils struggle in phonics because the sounds taught are not always well matched to their needs. The school has been asked to improve attendance systems and ensure phonics teaching matches all pupils' needs.
