Hollybush Primary is an improving school, demonstrating many positive changes under new leadership since May 2025. The school has established a warm and nurturing environment, providing effective support for children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). However, historical issues have resulted in too many pupils not being adequately prepared for their next steps by the time they leave for secondary school, particularly in key subjects like reading, writing, and mathematics. Leaders are aware of these challenges and have begun implementing strategies to improve student outcomes and attendance rates, although it is noted that these strategies require further development and time to assess their impact fully. The school excels in fostering personal development and maintains a safe and caring culture for its pupils. Significant improvements are evident in the early years provisions, and leaders are increasingly focused on understanding and addressing the needs of disadvantaged pupils. Nevertheless, high suspension rates and attendance issues, particularly among disadvantaged pupils, remain areas requiring urgent attention. Leaders are committed to enhancing the quality of education and ensuring that all pupils can succeed.
