Claremont High School

Claremont High School is a large mixed secondary school and sixth form within the Chrysalis Multi-Academy Trust. The March 2025 inspection was its first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic and its first section 5 inspection since 2015. The school was judged outstanding in all key judgements—quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth-form provision—although, as with all schools inspected from September 2024, no overall effectiveness grade was awarded. Pupils thrive academically and personally. They benefit from a highly ambitious and carefully connected curriculum, strong teaching and effective feedback, well-prioritised SEND support, and effective reading catch-up. Behaviour is excellent, low-level disruption is not tolerated, and bullying and discrimination are very rare. The school’s personal development offer is exceptionally broad, including a diverse co-curricular programme, pupil leadership roles, comprehensive PSHE, and well-developed careers education. Sixth-form students excel, particularly in academic subjects, and most progress to higher education or apprenticeships. Leaders, trustees and governors provide robust oversight and support, staff development is of very high quality, and workload is considered carefully. Safeguarding arrangements are effective. The report identifies no significant weaknesses.
