Wood End Primary School is an inclusive and welcoming school where pupils feel safe, behave well and value being part of the school community. The inspection found notable strengths in personal development and early years provision, with a broad and ambitious curriculum, strong reading and phonics, effective support for pupils with SEND, and an exceptionally wide range of extracurricular opportunities. Pupils are well prepared for life in modern Britain and take on leadership roles, while staff, governors, the trust and parents are positive about the school. Safeguarding arrangements are effective. The main area for improvement is that the intended curriculum is not yet implemented consistently. Following staffing changes, some staff do not yet have the subject knowledge and expertise to teach the curriculum in the depth expected, so pupils' knowledge is stronger in some areas than others. For example, pupils can recall historical facts but are less confident designing fair science investigations. This was a graded inspection of a primary academy within Communities Academies Trust and the first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic. The school was not given an overall effectiveness grade, but the report highlights strong provision alongside a clear next step to ensure consistent curriculum implementation so that all pupils build knowledge well over time.
