Pupils’ recall of prior learning is not consistently secure across subjects, and expectations for oracy and handwriting vary between classes. Leaders also need to sharpen how they evaluate the impact of strategies and ensure all staff understand their role in securing intended outcomes. Historic disadvantaged pupils’ combined reading, writing and mathematics outcomes have been below national averages, although current support is having a positive impact.
