King's Reach Education is an independent special school where all pupils have education, health and care plans and many have experienced significant interruptions to their education. Inspectors found the school performing well overall: safeguarding standards are met, all independent school standards are met, and attendance and behaviour, inclusion, and personal development and wellbeing are strong. Pupils feel safe, behave well, attend increasingly well and benefit from highly personalised support, therapeutic interventions and a broad enrichment offer. Achievement, curriculum and teaching, and leadership and governance are judged at the expected standard. Pupils make effective progress from their starting points, access a growing range of qualifications and benefit from a broadened curriculum, specialist English and mathematics teaching, one-to-one delivery and practical options such as the Trade School. Leaders have a clear moral purpose, governance and oversight have improved, and staff feel well supported. The main development points are to ensure the curriculum is consistently taught well across all subjects and to strengthen reading and writing across the curriculum. Inspectors also considered a material change request to increase pupil numbers from 10 to 15 and concluded the school is likely to meet the relevant standards if approved. However, the school was operating outside its registration at the time of inspection.
