Leeds and Broomfield Church of England Primary School

This is a small Church of England primary school within the Aspire Federation, with 91 pupils and a high proportion of pupils with education, health and care plans. Inspectors found the school inclusive and welcoming, especially for pupils who join mid-year, and safeguarding standards are met. The curriculum is broad and ambitious, early years provision is secure, and leadership, governance, inclusion and personal development are generally effective. Teaching of reading and mathematics is becoming more consistent, and pupils behave well and feel included. The main concerns are achievement and attendance. Published outcomes are low, and too many pupils, including disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, do not reach expected standards in national tests or make the progress needed for the next stage. Attendance is below national levels and persistent absence remains high. Leaders are aware of these issues and are taking action, but their impact is not yet consistent. Handwriting and number fluency also need further strengthening.
